Entrepreneurship : A step towards economic development of Pakistan

Pakistan is an amazing country – we just don’t realise it.

There are opportunities all round. But these are fragmented and if you pull the pieces together you will find them.

Pakistan has all the answers within itself to be  a great economic power. Once and for all getting rid of the begging bowl and being the masters of our own destiny and we have Pakistanis around the global with international expertise in every field waiting to be given the opportunity to help.

This is how I see it.  A giant jigsaw puzzle, with all the pieces right there in front of us but they just need to be put together.

Every other young person – educated or not – I come across is looking for a job but too few opportunities for them to get work and make a living . It’s hard to get a job and more so if you live in a rural area or if you lack soft skills as I am afraid many young people do.

But while Pakistan lacks good job opportunities, there exists a lot of entrepreneurship opportunities begging for someone to take them up.

And as they say “Necessity is the mother of all inventions “. Entrepreneurship is the need of the day –  for the individual and the country as it creates jobs and increases our economic growth.

It’s good to see that more and more people are entrepreneurs. And why shouldn’t they be ?

If we can be clever and take risks then these enterprises can be international ventures – look at what is happening in India; major Indian companies are becoming international successes.  We can do it too.

Remember more companies simply means, more jobs and more tax for the government, which in return can provide better services to our people (well we can live in hope !!!).

It will take some time to get there but everyone one of us has to look to take the first step.  That first step is to change our mindset – don’t think government job, think my own business !!.  In the long term you will be much better off and you will have helped your country and countrymen and women.  It’s letting our minds think of new opportunities that exist right around us and how we can turn them into profitable businesses.

Remember be patient, because no business will make millions overnight (though we would all love that to happen, be realistic). Hard work, honesty, focus and commitment are all required to start your business and build it up.

If you have a spark and a passion to help yourself and your family and the right job is eluding you then why not give it a go? On the way you will make some mistakes and learn from them and become stronger, you will make new friends or loose some but that’s all part of life – have courage and focus and you will succeed..

Problems, problems, most people say the environment for entrepreneurship isn’t right. Lack of finances, no policies, no support from government, lack of family support, managing people’s perception etc. etc.  I can go on about these issues all day long like everyone else and we can sit on our hands,  No, we can’t do that !! There will always be problems but does it mean that we are going to sit around complaining all our lives ?  Find a solution and that might be your new business. If we want a brighter future for our children and live a comfortable life then we have to take charge of our lives and take the first step. Stop expecting help & support from people, if you find it great but you must learn to never give up, take your destiny in your own hands and God will reward your efforts . Come on …….think out of the box !

People have made billions of ..not just rupees .. but dollars and pounds in their life times – so can you ..what’s stopping you? You will never forget the excitement of the first bit of money ( no matter how little that is ). You will hold on to that excitement and work harder for more. And this will continue for the rest of your life. All of you out there .. say yes .. it’s time for a change .. its time for entrepreneurship .
